Database construction positions are an integral part of the development work at TerraSim. These engineers provide the balance to the software team, focusing on product use and application.

At TerraSim, database engineers work on a variety of activities including product testing, documentation and training, customer support, and database generation services for TerraSim customers. They also work closely with software engineers to help define processing requirements that streamline product workflow. We value academic training and previous work experience in geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, urban planning, and visualization systems for modeling and simulation.

Job 08-giss -- GIS Specialist: Database Construction Services

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with background in the preparation of geospatial data for analysis and visualization. The successful applicant will become an expert in the TerraTools/TerraTours software suite to build 3D geospatial visualizations for our expanding customer base. Other aspects of this position include customer support, technical sales support, and in-house training of our customers. The following are also integral to this position:

  • Experience with ESRI's ArcGIS and/or ERDAS Imagine suite of software tools
  • Experience with feature data compilation, preparation, and generalization of geographic data from imagery using photogrammetric or CAD workstations
  • Experience with municipal and regional GIS work environments
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
