Pittsburgh, PA - TerraSim, Inc. has been awarded a DARPA Phase II SBIR entitled "Computer-Assisted Modeling of Urban Environments." This contract will result in a prototype commercial software product for automated and semi-automated building and feature extraction from imagery of complex urban environments.
"We're very pleased and excited to have been selected for a Phase II award," said Dr. Jefferey Shufelt, principal investigator on the SBIR project. "We believe the time is ripe for feature extraction tools to be integrated with advanced visualization techniques, as we demonstrated in our Phase I effort. The ability to rapidly construct high-fidelity synthetic urban environments is of increasing interest in a number of military and civilian markets, and this award makes possible the coupling of fast, robust extraction tools with cutting-edge database construction technology to meet this demand."
