TerraSim at SEDRIS Technology Conference 2000

August 17, 2000

Pittsburgh, PA - TerraSim will demonstrate their process for producing quality SEDRIS transmittals using their Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) product, TerraTools at this year's STC in Salt Lake City, UT.

Currently, SEDRIS transmittals produced by TerraTools are used for interchange, creation of correlated Compact Terrain Data Bases (CTDB), as well as for content and quality control by several Department of Defense (DoD) programs including Warfighters Simulation (WARSIM), Environmental Books on the Shelf (EBS), and the Virtual Emergency Response Training System (VERTS) program.

TerraSim will also demonstrate several advanced concepts in the use of SEDRIS technology. Database consistency problems detected using the Institute for Defense Analyses' Synthetic Environment Evaluation - Inspection Tool (SEE-IT) can easily be traced to problems with source data consumed by TerraTools so that a corrected transmittal can be rapidly regenerated.

Specific demonstrations will include:

  • Integration of database generation/correction with the Institute for Defense Analyses diagnostic application, SEE-IT.
  • Automated tracking of geospatial data between compilation source, SEDRIS transmittal, and SEE-IT diagnostic condition files.
  • Visual validation of TerraTools SEDRIS transmittal corrections using the AcuSoft Side-by-Side Terrain Viewer linked to TerraTools source data viewers.

About TerraSim

TerraSim is a high-technology company that provides software solutions and services for advanced visual simulation database construction using cartographic data. TerraTools®, their primary product, is available for both Windows NT/2000/XP and SGI IRIX workstations. TerraTools is used in the automated construction of dense urban environments for regional planning as well as simulation databases for military exercises covering hundreds of one degree geocells. TerraSim also provides database construction services and advanced technology development for both civilian and military customers.
