Pittsburgh, PA - Working with both commercial and DoD maritime end-users, TerraSim has added capability within TerraTools® 1.3 to generate seamless three-dimensional visualizations using both standard and user-specific bathymetric data sources. These include National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA) Digital Nautical Chart (DNC®), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) NGDC Coastal Relief Models, as well as several proprietary gridded and spot sounding representations.
Using TerraTools' unique technology to integrate disparate data sources and preserve elevation continuity across a common shoreline vector model, users are able to construct a seamless representation of the littoral zone, from the beach with its dunes and cliffs, into deeper offshore waters.
Full automation in the visual database construction process is achieved within TerraTools by merging disparate geospatial sources into a consistent representation prior to database generation. This removes the necessity of time consuming manual modeling, which is particularly difficult for coastal maritime applications.
About TerraSim
TerraSim is a high-technology company that provides software solutions and services for advanced visual simulation database construction using cartographic data. TerraTools®, their primary product, is available for both Windows NT/2000/XP and SGI IRIX workstations. TerraTools is used in the automated construction of dense urban environments for regional planning as well as simulation databases for military exercises covering hundreds of one degree geocells. TerraSim also provides database construction services and advanced technology development for both civilian and military customers.
