TerraSim, Inc. at SimTecT 2001

May 09, 2001

Pittsburgh, PA - Mr. David McKeown, President of TerraSim, Inc., will present a Workshop on Terrain Modelling Issues, -- Trends in Urban Visualization, at SimTecT 2001, in Canberra, Australia, May 28-31, 2001.

This invited talk will address emerging technology and trends in the generation of synthetic natural environments with an emphasis on urban visualization. Hardware technology advances, primarily as a result of PC graphics cards developed for the gaming industry, now allow for real-time flying or driving within complex urban environments on relatively low cost workstations. This workshop will focus on software toolsets for geospatial database generation that exploit modern graphics hardware, as well as trends in automation for database construction.

An introduction to urban modeling applications will be provided with examples of urban environment generation for database developers, urban planners, and managers. Crossover between military simulation and video surveillance and commercial applications will also be discussed. Examples of successful urban visualization projects produced by TerraSim customers using TerraTools® will be highlighted during he workshop.
