Pittsburgh, PA - TerraSim, Inc. will demonstrate the ease and flexibility of the production of SEDRIS transmittals using their product, TerraTools®, at the SEDRIS Technology Conference in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, June 5-7, 2001.
SEDRIS transmittals produced by TerraTools are used for database interchange, creation of correlated Compact Terrain Data Bases (CTDB), as well as for content and quality control by several DoD programs. These include Warfighters Simulation (WARSIM), the DMSO Terrain Scenario Generation and Archiving Project (TSGA), and the National Guard Virtual Emergency Response Training System (VERTS) program. TerraTools is supported on Windows NT/2000 and on SGI IRIX.
TerraTools 1.4 has been upgraded to output SEDRIS 3.0.3 transmittals and to ingest STF formatted databases including reusable model libraries. As a proof-of-capability, TerraSim will be exhibiting the reuse of TSGA models, provided by LMIS Bellevue, for the production of a Fort Knox visualization developed for the DARPA Command Post of the Future (CPOF) program. Approximately 124 different SEDRIS models, which included storage bunkers, communication dishes, water towers, and heavy machinery factories, were ingested into the TerraTools model library. They were automatically placed and oriented based upon information in the source NIMA MSDS data used to generate with geospatial visualization. This resulted in the placement of over 110 model instances in the final Fort Knox database.
Using EDCS version 2.9 in TerraTools, the mapping of common data source features has been greatly simplified for the end user. Enhancements to the TerraTools Model Library and Appearance Editors provide a highly tailored graphical user interface for SEDRIS mapping specification.
