Pittsburgh, PA - TerraSim, Inc., BAE SYSTEMS, and ITspatial LLC, will demonstrate the capability for end-to-end geospatial data capture, automated 3D visual database construction, and real-time interaction between the visual database and a fully correlated GIS database at Booth 115, BAE SYSTEMS, at the 21st Annual ESRI International User Conference, July 9-13, 2001 in San Diego, CA.
BAE SYSTEMS' SOCET SET® photogrammetric workstation was used to capture key downtown 3D building models with photo-realistic textures and 2D building footprints, as well as accurate locations for important urban features such as street signs, fire hydrants, and trees.
TerraSim's 3D urban visualization product, TerraTools®, was then employed to compose a variety of cartographic source data formats into a high-fidelity visual database, including the SOCET SET data ingested as models, San Diego GIS (SanGIS) vector parcel and landuse GIS data as ESRI Shapefiles, and Bentley MicroStation levels for utility placement.
Finally, the visual database and Shapefiles are produced by TerraTools and organized into a set of nine queryable layers derived from the original vector and model source data. They are then loaded into the ITspatial GeoSpatial Viewer (VIO-GIS) which allows end users to free-fly or drive the urban database in real time, while simultaneously using the full power of the ArcView® query interface. Based upon queries to ArcView, users can teleport to locations in the visualization or see query results highlighted in 3D.
