TerraSim Software Highlighted in Silicon Graphics World

February 02, 1999

Pittsburgh, PA - TerraSim's Schenley Park database follows up its Survey World debut this month in Silicon Graphics World, The article, "Covering the Terrain," appears in the February 1999 edition of the journal and illustrates the superiority of 3D visualization to image-texture mapped databases, and the capabilities of TerraTools to create efficient, affordable 3D databases.

Using TerraTools, a complete synthetic environment toolset created by TerraSim, 3D visualizations can be automatically constructed from standard, easily available, 2D data, eliminating the costly and time consuming manual editing previously necessary in 3D database construction. The Schenley Park database was constructed using TerraTools, and standard GIS ArcInfo data provided by the City of Pittsburgh.

Silicon Graphics World is an independent news and information journal published by PCI for the Silicon Graphics Inc. computing industry. It publishes 12 times monthly and features a wide range of high end Silicon Graphics applications from virtual testing of nuclear reactors to the big screen animations of the feature film "Mighty Joe Young."
