Pittsburgh, PA - TerraSim, Inc. announced today the release of its SOCET SET Plug-In for TerraTools, a software package that combines the capabilities of BAE Systems' industry-leading softcopy digital workstation and TerraSim's industry-leading synthetic virtual environment toolset to provide a end-to-end image-to-feature-to-visualization production loop, with a familiar and user-friendly interface.
The plug-in provides a complete interface to SOCET SET project internals, allowing imagery, DTMs, feature databases, and models to be assembled into a TerraTools visualization project which can be run without user intervention. Existing SOCET SET projects can be visualized quickly with the plug-in, and new projects can take advantage of custom extraction specifications that allow for rapid data collection for visualization. Because synthetic environment construction takes place in TerraTools, users can also enable 2D and 3D interactive query capabilities with TerraSim's GISLink™ technology.
We're excited about our new SOCET SET Plug-In for TerraTools," commented Dr. Jefferey A. Shufelt, Director of Corporate Research. "This product represents a substantial advance in enabling SOCET SET users to quickly compile and view real-time visualizations of their geospatial data, and goes well beyond simple model export and model placement by supporting integrated terrain skin construction from SOCET SET feature databases and DTMs, as well as automated feature modeling using existing TerraTools technology. SOCET SET users now have a seamless path for generating high-fidelity visualizations and taking advantage of state-of-the-art synthetic environment generation technology."
Mr. Mark Oldknow, BAE Systems Senior Technical Support Engineer observes that "SOCET SET users now have a seamless path for generating high-fidelity urban visualizations that take full advantage of our photogrammetric modeling capabilities combined with TerraTools ability to ingest pre-existing GIS source data to produce the most geometrically accurate advanced state-of-the-art synthetic natural environments. It is this blend of rapid photorealistic modeling combined with rapid urban database construction that our users require."
TerraSim will provide demonstrations of the plug-in at IMAGE 2002 conference, July 8-12.
