Pittsburgh, PA - TerraSim, Inc. will unveil its 3D GIS product release, TerraTours®, as well as demonstrate its core database construction product, TerraTools® 2.0 at this year's I/ITSEC conference in Orlando, Florida, December 1-4.
TerraTools 2.0 is the most capable version of TerraSim's product line of premier 3D geospatial visualization tools. TerraTools 2.0 provides a powerful suite of capabilities that support rapid exploitation of GIS data, imagery, and models for high-fidelity real-time visual simulation by novices and experts alike. New features include:
- OmniWizard™ automated TerraTools project generation from input data files, without additional user input
- Robust coordinate system and datum support for data import and database builds
- Macro Nodes to simplify the appearance of detailed project flow graphs
- Improved building modeling and placement tools
- Increased automation in cartographic feature processing
- AVI and still frame export for movie generation
- License-free "Pack and Go" for TerraTools database distribution on CD-ROM or DVD with TerraSim's TSGFly viewer
The TSGFly™ real-time 3D viewer incorporates numerous new enhancements since its last release including:
- Improved viewing controls with new compass, navigation buttons, and point look-around mode
- Intervisibility tool to determine the line of sight between two points
- Inspect building interiors with X-ray technology
- Realistic sky, sun appearance (flares), and wind motion
- Quick jump-to-point navigation and observation tools
- Position display selection between native database coordinates, MRGS, and geodetic coordinates
- Improved large area database paging performance on low cost OpenGL graphic cards
TerraTours leverages TerraTool's TSGFly viewer technology to allow users to interactively access linked multimedia sources, including still imagery, movies and websites, CAD drawings and diagrams, directly through the visual simulation. During automated database construction, TerraSim's GISLink™ technology creates URL links to various types of external multimedia information as it also preserves all geospatial attribution available in the source data. Once linked, users can display all the available information for any object in the 3D GIS visualization using a simple 'Point and Query' browser interaction. After delivery to end users, TerraTours can be interactively used to augment additional multi-media information and attach it to the current visualization without database modification. TerraTours delivery strategy supports both Internet connected or disconnected information access.
