TerraSim Presents TerraTools® 3.0 and DEMTools from TerraSim® at IMAGE 2005 Conference

June 07, 2005

Pittsburgh, PA - TerraSim, Inc. will participate in the annual IMAGE Society Conference held in Scottsdale, Arizona, from July 10-14. At IMAGE, TerraSim will be introducing the advanced capabilities of the latest version of its TerraTools® 3.0 geospatial visualization product. We will also introduce DEMTools from TerraSim®, an extension to ArcGIS 9.0, at the IMAGE 2005 technology exhibit.

Here are few of the new features of TerraTools 3.0 CORE:

  • Multi-threaded processing expanded to four times processing with a dual processor Windows 2000 or XP workstation using a single TerraTools license node. The TerraTools process flow architecture allows you to maximize your investment in multi-processing workstations without resorting to specialized hardware or additional software licenses.
  • OpenFlight export for versions 15.7, 15.8, 16.0 including support for lightpoints and multitextures. Significant improvements in user defined grouping of external model references and sensor modeling.
  • TerraTools node progress bars showing time spent and time remaining for all TerraTools computational nodes. Instrumentation allows for aggregate task timing, or library level display of progress.
  • Underground structure generation and display, with support for pipelines, tunnels, and utilities using GIS or CAD data.
  • CTDB exporter plug-in improvements for OTB versions 1/2, and JSAF version 8.3, as well as automated urban database generation, including DI-SAF MES building generation and expanded micro terrain support.
  • Compilation of frequently used Tcl/Tk macros into a library package for ease of reuse.
  • Significant speedups in automatic building generation from NGA and GIS source data, including automated extrusion, rooflines, and object attribution.
  • Introduction of OneSAF 1.0 exporter plug-in which provides TerraTools users with the capability to produce OTF format geotiles.

Current TerraTools 2.0 customers with up-to-date maintenance will receive a complimentary upgrade to TerraTools 3.0.

TerraSim, Inc. will also be presenting DEMTools from TerraSim®, which comes in two flavors: as an extension to the ESRI ArcGIS suite and as an optional plug-in for TerraTools CORE. DEMTools allows the user to fuse multiple DEMs from different sources with arbitrary coordinate systems, datums, bounds, and post spacings into one consolidated DEM.

DEMTools also comes with automatic hole-filling capabilities, as well as other tools to help with lake flattening, DEM registration, and the automated combination of land and bathymetric data controlled by a coastline vector. The hole-filling process provides automatic correction of SRTM and ASTER DEM source data and allows users to select DEM data with lower spatial resolution, or use a novel polygonal interpolation process as a part of the hole-filling process.

As an optional TerraTools CORE plug-in, DEMTools natively supports the import of DEM data in HDF4-EOS, BIL/BIP/BSQ, GRIB, and GRIDFLOAT formats. Also, LIDAR data import is now supported in LAS 1.0 and 1.1 formats. It includes all of the DEM processing capabilities found in the extension to ArcGIS.

Please visit us at booth #14 on Wednesday, July 13 for demonstrations and technical discussions.

About TerraSim

TerraSim is a US owned high-technology company that provides software solutions and services for advanced visual simulation and database construction using a variety of geospatial source data. TerraTools®, their primary product, is available for both Windows 2000 and XP.

TerraTools is used in the automated construction of dense urban environments for operations planning and situation assessment as well as to produce exercise databases covering hundreds of one degree geocells. TerraSim also provides database construction services and advanced technology development for both civilian and military customers.

TerraSim's TerraTours® product supports highly interactive geospatial query using 3D visualizations linked to a variety of collateral source data. Using GISLink™ technology, TerraTours users can automatically georeference and display information sources such as still photography, video streams, CAD design data, maps, and any web-enabled document.
