Pittsburgh, PA - An interactive 3D GIS scavenger hunt based upon a Virtual San Diego geospatial visualization will be presented at the ORBIMAGE Booth #1702 at the ESRI User Conference, July 25-29, 2005 in San Diego. Sponsored by ORBIMAGE, and developed by TerraSim, Inc., the visualization uses TerraTours® to challenge visitors to find and record GIS clues that are scattered as billboards throughout the San Diego city core.
Constructed using TerraSim's TerraTools® geospatial visualization product combining a variety of GIS vector source data and USGS digital elevation models, then phototextured with Orbview-3 one meter imagery, the database covers approximately 16 square miles of the San Diego business district around the convention center.
he GIS scavenger hunt uses TerraTours's ability to link arbitrary data, including web lines, still imagery, movies, CAD drawings, and other collateral information into a complete geospatial retrieval using the 3D visualization as the core unifying concept.
Visitors to the OrbImage booth will have 5 minutes to collect all GIS clues within the Scavenger Hunt. Participants that collect all of the correct clues will be entered into the drawing to win a Grand Prize to be awarded at the close of the conference.
