Pittsburgh, PA - TerraSim, Inc. has been awarded a Phase II SBIR, entitled Software Tools for Modeling Urban Details, by the U.S. Army to develop and commercialize technology to allow for the rapid generation of urban models from a variety of current and emerging sensor systems. The results of this effort will greatly improve the ability to rapidly generate building facades, building interiors, and underground structures within current modeling and simulation systems such as OneSAF, as well as support multi-int fusion of information for situation awareness.
Data from a variety of sensor systems including terrestrial LIDAR and video from robotic vehicles, handheld GPS enhanced cameras, and omnidirectional sensors will be modeled. TerraSim will develop technology to rapidly assimilate sensed data into large scale urban databases traditionally constructed from static geospatial data sources. The resulting capabilities will be integrated into the TerraTools® product line. This work is a continuation of a Phase I SBIR monitored by U.S. Army RDECOM STTC, Orlando, Florida.
About TerraSim
TerraSim is a US owned high-technology company that provides software solutions and services for advanced visual simulation and database construction using a variety of geospatial source data. TerraTools®, their primary product, is available for both Windows 2000 and XP.
TerraTools is used in the automated construction of dense urban environments for operations planning and situation assessment as well as to produce exercise databases covering hundreds of one degree geocells. TerraSim also provides database construction services and advanced technology development for both civilian and military customers.
TerraSim's TerraTours® product supports highly interactive geospatial query using 3D visualizations linked to a variety of collateral source data. Using GISLink™ technology, TerraTours users can automatically georeference and display information sources such as still photography, video streams, CAD design data, maps, and any web-enabled document.
