TerraSim Announces TerraTools® 3.0 GDB Export for VR-Forces® and MÄK Stealth Plug-in to be Demonstrated at IMAGE 2006

July 12, 2006

Pittsburgh, PA - TerraSim, Inc. the technology leader in the generation of geospatial databases with detailed urban content, and MÄK Technologies, the world's leading supplier of distributed simulation software, announce the development of a MÄK Terrain Export (GDB) plug-in for TerraTools 3.0. TerraSim will be providing demonstrations of TerraTools generated urban databases in VR-Forces and MÄK Stealth at Booth 14 in the IMAGE Society Exhibit Hall.

By leveraging the advanced functionality of TerraSim's TerraTools geospatial database construction product, VR-Forces users can now develop both large area and detailed geo-specific urban insets that are fully compliant with the VR-Forces runtime. TerraTools imports a full range of civil and military source vector data, DEMs, and imagery to produce a fully attributed terrain representation that supports the full range of VR-Forces computer generated forces (CGF) behaviors in complex urban environments.

"We're excited that TerraSim, a technologically innovative company who shares our product philosophy, has developed this new tool. The development and release of TerraTools 3.0 is an important step in the continued growth of VR-Forces," said Marc Schlackman, vice president of sales and marketing at MÄK Technologies.

Joe Giuliani, principal visualization systems architect at TerraSim, noted, "Thanks to the VR-Forces toolkit's clean interface, we could design our GDB exporter to fully translate detailed TerraTools source data attribution and geometry. As a result, our exporter creates databases that support all of the advanced CGF behaviors that are required for urban simulation."

Coupled with TerraTools' OpenFlight™ export capability, MÄK Stealth and StealthXR users have an automated process to create fully correlated GCF and visual databases to support the most demanding training scenarios. This solution gives both Linux and Windows users access to optimized MÄK GDB files.

The GDB export plug-in for TerraTools 3.0 will be available in the fourth quarter of this year; however, sample correlated urban area GDB and OpenFlight databases are currently available for test and evaluation.

Current users of TerraTools 3.0 can purchase the OTF export plug-in option without requiring any additional software components.

About TerraSim

TerraSim is a US owned high-technology company that provides software solutions and services for advanced visual simulation and database construction using a variety of geospatial source data. TerraTools®, their primary product, is available for both Windows 2000 and XP.

TerraTools is used in the automated construction of dense urban environments for operations planning and situation assessment as well as to produce exercise databases covering hundreds of one degree geocells. TerraSim also provides database construction services and advanced technology development for both civilian and military customers.

TerraSim's TerraTours® product supports highly interactive geospatial query using 3D visualizations linked to a variety of collateral source data. Using GISLink™ technology, TerraTours users can automatically georeference and display information sources such as still photography, video streams, CAD design data, maps, and any web-enabled document.
