Pittsburgh, PA - The IMAGE Society is a non-profit, technical, professional association for the advancement of visual simulation, related technologies, and their applications. Each month, the Society selects an Image of the Month, highlighting technology or a novel solution produced by one of its corporate members.
TerraSim is pleased to supply the Image of the Month for November, 2007. It shows new capabilities in TerraTools 3.5 to automatically augment complex 3D urban visualizations with "urban details" that provide an improved visual appearance without resorting to manual modeling.
"Urban Details" processing can can be tailored to adjust to user requirements for model placement including density, model vanishing ranges, and levels of detail. Models can be used from the standard TerraTools model library or users can organize their models into regionally or culturally specific groups. In addition to automatic model placement and alignment using geometric constraints, model groups can be constructed and scripted to avoid simple repetition.
As the Downtown and Village scenes below illustrate, both geometric and texture appearances can be automatically modified in TerraTools to enhance the visual sense of place.
