November 12, 2009
Pittsburgh, PA - TerraSim, Inc. will feature cutting edge technology innovations in its TerraTools® terrain generation and visualization software product line at I/ITSEC 2009 at Booth 1229. I/ITSEC is the premiere conference for leaders in training and education programs from the armed services, academia, industry, and government and will be held in Orlando, FL from November 30 - December 3, 2009.
Packed with new features and updates requested by our customers, TerraTools 3.8 is the most technologically advanced terrain generation software ever released. This powerful tool allows users to rapidly construct simulation databases using standard DoD, NGA, and USGS source data.
A single TerraTools Core workstation is faster and more computationally efficient than legacy architectures relying on multiple machines running a network server, making superior throughput attainable at a significantly lower price point.
TerraTools supports up to eight parallel processing threads on a single multi-core Windows workstation. Changes to the TerraTools 3.8 architecture allow Windows 64 workstations to utilize a total of 16GB of processor memory with 8 parallel processing threads, making it the most powerful terrain building product on the market.
The 3.8 release includes automated processes for exporting geospatially correlated databases to a variety of virtual and constructive systems, including OneSAF OTF and Virtual Battlespace 2. New OmniWizard support for both formats automatically builds export-ready database projects. In addition, improvements to existing virtual and constructive export processes allow users to fully customize databases with Urban Details™ processing.
TerraTools continues to have the most comprehensive end-user support on the market. Online help has been completely revised and updated for the 3.8 release, and a series of TerraTools Tech Notes, over forty tutorials for both novice and experienced users, can be found on the TerraSim support website.
TerraTools 4.0 Major Release Preview
In addition to displaying the enhancements currently available in TerraTools 3.8, TerraSim will give I/ITSEC show attendees a preview of the exciting developments that will be released in TerraTools 4.0. Highlights include:
Native 64-bit processing: TerraTools Core is the only fully multi-threaded commercial terrain product providing users with up to eight fully independent processing threads on a single runtime license. 64-bit native mode processing provides each thread with unlimited access to workstation memory, eliminating contention during large area databases construction tasks.
Underground modeling and simulation: TerraTools 4.0 will provide automated generation of underground structures, ranging from simple underground tanks and storage to fully modeled underground complexes. In addition, underground structures will integrate seamlessly with man-made and natural surface features and be able to be exported to a number of virtual and constructive systems, including OneSAF UHRB, JSAF MES, VBS2, and OpenFlight.
Additional VBS2 enhancements: TerraTools 4.0 will build on the advanced capabilities of the TerraTools VBS2 exporter plug-in, which automatically generates building interiors with doors and windows, automates collision volumes, and adds Urban Details processing. New functionalities will include support for animated gates and doors, entity paths through building interiors, and additional updates for ease of use and continued correlation with other runtime systems.
New runtime export to Steel Beasts: TerraTools 4.0 will support terrain map generation from geospatial source data for eSim Games' Steel Beasts Professional. Steel Beasts Pro is a vehicle centric simulation of combined arms combat tactics that models the gunner's, commander's and driver's positions of various armored fighting vehicles. As with all TerraTools plug-ins, Steel Beasts Pro's terrain maps will correlate to other visual and constructive simulations.
Support for additional interchange formats: TerraTools 4.0 will support import and export of a wider range of file types. Export to OpenSceneGraph will include support for database paging and texture compression in both .osg and .ive formats. Support for COLLADA models will include import, export, and conversion of any TerraTools model into COLLADA format.
For complete details on these new developments and more, visit TerraSim at Booth 1229. TerraSim system developers will be on hand to provide live demonstrations, describe current and future TerraTools enhancements, and discuss how TerraSim can support your geospatial database construction and computer generated forces requirements.
TerraSim is a US owned high-technology company that provides software solutions and services for advanced visual simulation and database construction using a variety of geospatial source data. TerraTools®, their primary product, is available for both Windows XP and Vista.
TerraTools is used in the automated construction of dense urban environments for operations planning and situation assessment as well as to produce exercise databases covering hundreds of one degree geocells. TerraSim also provides database construction services and advanced technology development for both civilian and military customers.
TerraSim's TerraTours® product supports highly interactive geospatial query using 3D visualizations linked to a variety of collateral source data. Using GISLink™ technology, TerraTours users can automatically georeference and display information sources such as still photography, video streams, CAD design data, maps, and any web-enabled document.Copyright © 2017 TerraSim, Inc.
