TerraSim Exhibits and Presents at IMAGE Society's 2012 Conference

Pittsburgh, PA - TerraSim, Inc., a corporate member of the IMAGE Society since 2000, will demonstrate new products and features from its TerraTools® 3D geospatial visualization software and present two technical papers at the 2012 IMAGE Society Conference in Scottsdale, AZ, June 4-7, 2012.

TerraSim, the technology leader in automated generation of urban environments, is proud to be a Copper Host for the 2012 IMAGE Society Conference. At the conference, TerraSim will highlight its products' newest capabilities:

  • TerraTools 4.0 Update Release: The recent TerraTools 4.0 update release contains support for VBS2 water effects and underground structures, generated parametrically using TerraTools Urban Details™ processing. This release of TerraTools also contains new support for the Havok Vision Engine and Havok Middleware. Demonstrations of correlated environments will include Terrastan, a 25 x 25km Afghan-like database, and several detailed urban databases. Using Havok Physics and Destruct, TerraSim will also demonstrate real time weapons effects on parametrically generated building models, created from GIS source data in TerraTools.
  • Live Networking Across Runtimes: TerraSim will show live linking of two correlated serious game environments, VBS2 and Steel Beasts Professional, using Calytrix Technologies' LVC Game. TerraTools supports correlated environments in a wide variety of third party serious gaming, visual and constructive simulation formats.
  • Source Data Preparation: TerraSim will also demonstrate the latest addition to its source data preparation product line: MaterialMAP™. This software is an easy-to-use surface material classification system that performs a variety of functions, using aerial or satellite imagery. MaterialMAP can generate the information needed to determine vehicular mobility and material masks for serious game runtimes. It can also create material encoded textures for correlated sensor simulation.

In addition to demonstrating these new enhancements, TerraSim will present two papers during the technical sessions on Tuesday, June 5, and Thursday, June 7. The first paper, "Correlated Terrain for Serious Games: Achieving Interoperability Across Diverse Runtime Environments," discusses the challenges in achieving database correlation across multiple serious games benchmarked against a visual system. The games considered are VBS2, Steel Beasts Professional and Havok Vision Engine.

The second paper, entitled "Automatic Annotation of Urban Environments to Support Pattern of Life Behaviors," discusses TerraSim's approach to generating annotated urban environments. Annotated urban environments can be used by artificial intelligence and middleware applications to support the generation of pattern of life (POL) behaviors in serious games and constructive simulations.
